Accessibility
Accessibility statement
Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is committed to making this website accessible in accordance with the Berlin Act on Access to Information and Communication Technology (BIKTG Bln) and BITV 2.0.
Scope
This statement applies to the website becure.org, the public website of BeCURE – Berlin Center for HIV Cure at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
Status of compliance
This website is partially compatible with the requirements of BITV 2.0 and the success criteria of WCAG 2.1 at level AA. The points it does not yet meet are listed under “Known limitations” below.
What has already been taken into account
The following has been built into this page from the start:
- The entire page respects the operating-system setting “reduce motion”. With that setting active, all scroll animations are switched off and the content is presented as a plain, static page.
- All content is available as real text, in a semantic heading order, and can be read by a screen reader. No essential information is contained only in an image or only in an animation.
- The page is fully bilingual, English and German, and the language of the document is set programmatically when the language is switched.
- Text contrast, font size and line spacing were chosen with legibility in mind; body text is set at 17.5 pixels with generous line spacing, and the layout reflows down to small mobile screens without horizontal scrolling.
- Decorative images and background graphics are marked as decorative so that assistive technology skips them.
Known limitations
The following content is not fully accessible:
- The film is in German with English subtitles. German subtitles, a transcript and an audio description are not available.
- Content in Easy Language (Leichte Sprache) and in German Sign Language is required for public bodies under BITV 2.0 § 4 and is not yet present.
- The scroll-driven sequences have not yet been tested with a screen reader and by keyboard only on the final content.
- A color-contrast audit of the final color and image combinations is still outstanding.
