3. Server log files
When you visit this website, the hosting provider automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser transmits automatically. These are:
- browser type and version
- operating system used
- referrer URL
- host name of the accessing computer
- time of the server request
- IP address, shortened where technically possible
This data is not merged with other data sources. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR in conjunction with § 3 BlnDSG: the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest, namely the technically secure and stable provision of this website. Log data is deleted by the hosting provider after 30 days at the latest.
4. Cookies and tracking
This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics, tracking or advertising technologies. Your language choice (English or German) is stored locally in your browser and is never transmitted to us. No cookie banner is therefore required.
If web analytics is introduced at a later stage, this section must be extended and, depending on the tool, consent must be obtained before it is loaded.
5. Web fonts
This page uses the typeface Plus Jakarta Sans (SIL Open Font License). The font files are delivered from this site’s own server. No connection to Google Fonts or any other third-party server is made when the page loads, and no IP address is transmitted to a third country.
6. Contact by e-mail
If you contact us by e-mail, the details you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing your enquiry and for possible follow-up questions. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR. We delete this data as soon as it is no longer required, unless statutory retention periods apply.
7. External links and services
This page links to external services such as LinkedIn and, from the support section, to a donation platform. When you follow such a link, the provider of that service receives your IP address and can process further data under its own privacy policy. We have no influence on this processing. Donations run through the Charité donation system at charite-hiv-infektionsforschung.jetztzahlen.de, operated for Charité by jetztzahlen.de. Data you enter there is processed by that provider under its own privacy policy.
8. Video
The film on this page is delivered from this site’s own server. It is only loaded when you start playback. No video platform or other third party is involved, and no data is transmitted to third parties when you watch it.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin.
10. SSL/TLS encryption
This site uses transport encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the prefix https:// in the address bar of your browser.
